Ljubisa Buzic is a photographer living in Vienna, Austria. New to photography, only starting up one year ago and has already proven to have a great eye. Ljubisa found his way into the world of photography by ways of Instagram, having never really owning a camera. This in turn opened his eyes and he began to play with photography using Instagram’s many filters. Over time Ljubisa was lured more and more into photography and this lead him to his obsession with abstraction, structures, pattern and abstract architecture photography.
As Ljubisa became more serious about his photography, he really wanted to get his hands on a real camera, being attracted to the more classic analogue form of photography. So with a Olympus OM2, lent to him by a good friend, he moved his way into the world of analogue photography. Ljubisa was drawn to the warm colours that film produced and the way film, despite not being as crisp and detailed as his digital photographs, seemed to be more a way of seeing and capturing moments and memories. Ljubisa’s aim now is to try and capture the world around him, but with more emphasis on moods and feelings in his compositions, always looking for the unique angle that the everyday passer-by would not notice. He achieves this by using very geometric patterns, more often than not avoiding people in his shots. If he does include a figure, he will only include one figure and place them against overwhelming or geometric environments.
Using a wide range of analogue cameras has
helped him, as it did me, to learn the technical side to photography. Analogue
cameras, by their nature, make you think more about each photograph you make as
everything is manual and you are limited to a small number of frames compared
to the hundreds of frames you can captured in digital.
So now I have
given you brief introduction to Ljubisa and his thoughts behind his work, I
should now post up a selection from his large portfolio of fantastic, eye
capturing and often mesmerizing, photographs. I hope you find Ljubisa’s
photographs as inspiring as I do and it goes to show that photography can be
taken up by anybody at any age and with practice and perseverance, can produce
fantastic images for personal or even professional use.
As Ljubisa says, and I agree, “I think it doesn't matter what technology you use, just go and make the photo!”
