Robert Sheppard has got to be one of my favourite
photographers that I have had the pleasure of discovering whilst browsing
Instagram.
His photography is simply stunning, but for me it is his black and
white work that truly stands out to me. Roberts’s use of composition and tones
are just fantastic.
Robert is an art director specializing in home furnishings
and décor, currently living in Toronto. His passion for photography was passed
down to him via his father and grandmother who Robert says was ahead of her
time. Having influences like this really does show in the technical ability of
Robert’s work. Robert got the travelling bug from having lived in 3 Provinces
and 5 U.S States and then, when he was 20, he spent the summer travelling
around Europe.
Robert captures the world around him using his Iphone 4s and
his trusty Canon G11, and he uses these to great effect.
In July 2013 he joined Instagram. He decided not to tell
anybody he knows as he wanted to explore on his own and see who he would
connect with and where his photography would fit in. Six moths later Robert had
already connected with 750 people from all over the world, this still without
telling any of his friends.
Robert says, “What I love most about IG is that it pushes me to
get out there with my camera more often and it has re-opened my eyes to the
beauty in everyday life.”
So
after this introduction it is only best to show a selection of his photographs
from his thought provoking and beautiful, Instagram gallery.
