Photographer's highlight #27 Daniel Hernandez

Daniel Hernandez originated from Cuba but now been living and studying engineering in Miami for the last 5 years.  He acquired his first camera, a Nikon D5200, in November 2013.  Hernandez is a self-taught photographer saying “I am the kind of person that can’t stand not knowing about something”.

Daniel taught himself the technical aspects of making a photograph by spending many nights searching for photography videos on YouTube, watching tutorials and reading articles by professional and experienced photographers. During a recent trip to Cuba, Daniel found his drive and decided to really work at and push his photography further.
After his debut in this exhibition, Daniel found it to be a gratifying experience to see people interested in his art, saying, “Having people, that I’ve never met, to look at my picture and really understand why I took it is the reason one does an exposition”.
Daniel now owns and runs Rawspot with his girlfriend, co-owner and creative director of Rawspot photos, Maria Paula Lopez. Daniel says, “We have done magazines, artists, fashion and all that, but we realized that conceptual photography is the one we've liked the most”.
Daniel likes the works of Rebecca Litchfield, Christian Aslund, Stephen Shore, among others.

“My goal is to continue taking pictures and improving my skills to become a better photographer”, says Daniel.
