Photographer's highlight #7 Pilar Martínez

Pillar, 32, was born in Reus, Spain. At the age of 19 Pillar acquired her first camera and with this went on to work in portraits and reportage. After graduating in Photography and Digital creations Pillar went on to work with a photographic agency. After working there for 3 years pillar moved on and worked for a art gallery, being responsible for the photographic catalogues used in auctions.

In 2010 Pillar put her camera to one side to focus on other personal projects and in this time left the gallery.

Pillar was lured back into the world of photography when in 2012, acquired an Iphone and with a whole new outlook on her photography. Pillar gained knowledge and focused on the new and modern style of life, putting aside the old perspectives on photography and focusing more on the now.

Pillar says,“From my point of view, using my Iphone objective, I am rediscovering myself physically, extracting from the deepest part of my body feelings and the most occulted pains, altogether in a black and white format."
"I am inspired by the self-portraits of FrancescaWoodman, and the style of Imogen Cunningham."
"I think that the art mobile is a tool for everyone, a new world born from the conventional photography, giving me a huge freedom to use my “camera” wherever and whenever I want.”
