Photographer's highlight #9 Glenda Hubbard

Glenda Hubbard is a photographer and for the last 25 years a teacher of photography and visual arts from Byron Bay, Australia. Byron Bay is situated on the furthest point of Eastern Australia, near the Border of Queensland. This area is well known for its long white beaches and is a very popular destination for the surfing community.

Glenda has being making mobile photographs for the last 2 years after finding the Instagram app via her Ipad. Through this Glenda found inspiration from images by artists such as Carlein Van Der Beek and Millo Salgado. Glenda then went on to purchase a Iphone was hooked, Iphonography becoming her main hobby.

Glenda creates her beautiful images of beach life and the ever changing moods of the oceans using various apps on her Iphone or Ipad. Some of the techniques that Glenda uses include simply moving her phone to create blurs and using slow shutter apps to make textured movement. From these photos Glenda will blend the image together as layers, these layers help to give the image more depth to the surface, until the desired result is achieved, finalizing in images that usually reflect her moods or feelings.

Once the image has been edited and tweaked Glenda posts her work onto Instagram, giving the instant feedback that enables her to learn and develop her skills and to develop her own personal style. One of Glenda’s favorite places on Instagram to post her images is in a group called @Sundaybluesedit and has played a large part in her perseverance in creating and refining her own creative style.

Glenda also enjoys using the camera app, Hipstamatic, and has now branch out using such platforms such as Eyeem, Tadaa, Iphoneart and Flickr.

So now that I have given you a bit of a background to Glenda and her techniques, the only thing left is to post up a selection of her amazing and beautiful images. Enjoy.
