Leonard
McGurr and son Timothy McGurr.
|
I first stumbled upon Leonard’s design work from being an
avid listener of recording artists on the Mo’Wax recording label. Futura is
known for his work with James Lavelle’s Unkle project, creating record sleeves
and video imagery.
Leonard’s work, as Futura, hit the internet in the mid 90’s
with his Original HTML Database of over 200 pages. This became an introduction
to what his new platform may become and the potential to self-publish to a
global audience.
Futura
started on Instagram from being inspired by son Timothy McGurr (AKA
“13thWitness”), and Leonard can be found under the name “Futuradosmil”. His
images are varied featuring abstract colour works to city-scapes to still lives
that are all highly charged with vibrant colour.
As normal, I think really the best way to sum up Futura's work is to show you a selection that I have found via Instagram.
Enjoy.
The second artist in the double feature is that of Timothy McGurr, son of Leonard McGurr.
Timothy’s and Leonard’s work is so different but they do
share the same unique styles that ooze colour and high contrast.
Timothy McGurr, is also a very talented artist and
designer that can be found on Instagram as “13thwitness”.
Timothy is New York born, but his photographic journey began
when he was abroad at the age 18 years old and since then his presence has
grown stronger and stronger and has become known for his dark and edgy style of
design and photography.
Timothy has worked with likes of musician John Mayer
and clothing giant Nike. Timothy travels the world using his photography and
this has got to be a great inspiration for other photographers, including
myself, to get out there and capture the world around them.
Timothy has such a fantastic vision of the world around him.
So here is a selection of images that I found on his "13Witness" Instagram profile.
Enjoy.
