"The Polaroid Book:

Selections From The Polaroid Collections Of Photography"

Polaroid collection of photography has been around for 50 years and was started by Polaroid founder Edwin land and photographer Ansel Adams. The collection features the works of hundreds of photographers from all over the world, names such as David Hockney, Helmut Newton, Jeanloup Sieff, ChuckClose and Andy Warhol.
“The Polaroid book” is a collection of some of these photographs. With over 300 photos, there is something for everybody and I found plenty of inspiration in this book. I found myself getting totally immersed in the book and gazing in wonder at some of the compositions, shapes and shadows. It is fantastic how some photographers can capture so much in such a short moment in time. It is very easy to lose yourself in this book, as I often do.

This is such a gorgeous coffee table book which is beautifully presented throughout, although I must point out that one of my all time pet hates is when an image is spread across two pages and this book does this on a couple of occasions, this really ruins an image in my eyes. On a whole there is however one large photo per page and this really helps the photos to pop. The back of the book has the photos indexed and this safes on text spoiling the look of the pages, also in the back of the book is a collection of cameras in their order of release, this is great to look at but I would have liked a little more information about each camera and the film used in each one. The shear quality of the work in this book definitely makes up for this.

There are all manner of styles of photograph in this book ranging from the obscure to the absurd and atmospheric. There are very few “bad” photos in this book and this is only my own opinion as what is a great photo by one person may not be to another. I find this book to be an infinite source of inspiration and I am sure it will be for other photographers or for those who just like art.

All in all, “The Polaroid Book” is a wonderful collection and it is something I would highly recommend.
