These posts are a place where I will share with you various photography related videos.

 Videos that are about photographers or featuring photography techniques that I may not use myself, but think others may be interested. 

Alfred Stieglitz

Alfred was instrumental in getting photography accepted by the art world as art in its own right, giving photography the same status in art as say painting and drawing. He achieved this with the movement of which he lead called Pictorialism, where their understanding of photography is that a photograph is created when the camera used as a tool, much like a painter and their brush.

He ran a number of art galleries in New York, where he introduced, to the United States, many avant-garde European artists. During this time he married the artist Georgia O’Keeffe.

This documentary goes into detail about this highly influential photographer.

Duffy

Duffy is one of the innovators, along with David Bailey and Terence Donovan, of "documentary" fashion photography,this was a style which came to revolutionize  fashion photography and in turn, the fashion industry. In 1962 the Sunday Times dubbed Duffy, Bailey & Donovan the "Terrible Trio". In this film Duffy agrees to talk about his life, his work and why he made it all go up in flames.

David LaChapelle

David LaChapelle is known for highly creative portraits and fashion photography. His work is jam packed with colour and often, tongue in cheek, humor. His photographs sometimes look at first glance that they are heavily Photo-shopped but they are not, instead he uses clever lighting and the use of bright colours and lots of textures. His striking photographs have often been on the covers and pages of Vogue, Vanity fair, GQ, and Rolling Stone. He has photographed all manner of personalities such as Madonna,Uma Thurman, Elizabeth Taylor, Jeff Koons and Hillary Clinton. this is a great look into the work of one of my favourite fashion photographers.
